The saying that prevention
is better than cure is one I can describe as ageless, and often at times, I
have been tempted to add that prevention
is cheaper than cure. This is true because not only do we spend resources
to treat avoidable diseases, resources which could have been used for better
ventures, we also incur increasing wear and tear on our body systems.
Life is a gift entrusted to us for the benefit of
those around us but we must start by taking care of ourselves before we take
care of others. As such, it is imperative to take necessary steps to ensure
that we stay healthy. This can be achieved by good practices such as:
1.
Maintaining good
hygiene and environmental sanitation
2.
Good nutrition
3.
Healthy
lifestyle practices – staying away from smoking, zero or minimal alcoholic
ingestion, an anti-sedentary life style (exercising regularly), minimizing
stress, drinking lots of water and staying away from excess fats and processed
sugars
4.
Consulting appropriate
qualified health practitioners about your health concerns
5.
Taking drugs as
prescribed and when in doubt, seek the help of a pharmacist
6.
Being knowledgeable
about health-related matters – through reading print outs, leaflets, health
bulletins and magazines, watching health talks and videos or attending health
seminars, talks, etc
This is a simple reminder about a basic necessity of
life. Give it a thought, practice it and you will be glad you did. We put this
down for you because we care, please Share this with friends to show them you
care too.
We love you!
